Full belly, full heart, full smiles. ☺️😄🤪Yesterday was such a sweet day and such a sweet reminder of the importance of practicing gratefulness. The shift in our attitude, peace and JOY when we focus our minds and hearts on what we are thankful for is incredible! It may not shift our circumstances, but it can shift how we feel in spite of our circumstances. I challenge you today to not make Thanksgiving a one day thing! Continue to practice thankfulness today, tomorrow, and through the rest of the year, and watch how your perspective on life CHANGES ☺️☺️ who wants to try this with me? Photos by @perrowphoto
THANKFUL🧡 I know we still have a week before Thanksgiving but hey, gratefulness should be more than just one day right? ☺️ I’m not going home for Thanksgiving this year, and today I am feeling SO grateful for the amazing people of LA who have grown to be my West Coast Family. Can’t wait to celebrate all the Friendsgivings this week! I’m starting to really think about all the things I’m most grateful for; I hope you start to do the same! It’s more than a day about Turkey, amiright? Also thankful for the cutest little lakeside happy hour dress by @shopreddress . Making me feel all the golden hour rustic feels. #RDBabe ❤️ Photo by @perrowphoto
Have you ever stopped to think about what you lean on most in life? Are you the type of person who allows yourself to lean on a support system or do you need to feel you’re doing it all on your own? I used to be the “all on my own” girl, but I have EMBRACEDDDD that support system life the past couple of years! I am so grateful for the solid group of women I have been blessed to be surrounded by to lean on in the hard times, and to celebrate with in the good times. If you don’t have a tribe that you can truly lean on, I HIGHLY recommend you make finding that a priority 😍 and even if you DO have that, I challenge you today to try to be there for someone new today! To check in on that friend who hasn’t been coming around as much, to share a smile with a stranger, or to connect with someone who might be being overlooked ♥️♥️ A little kindness can make a world of difference 🤗 Tag someone below you know you can lean on, or who you want to know can always lean on you! Also here’s an unrelated image of me leaning on a tree lol Wearing @thepinklilyboutique
LA Fall weather is confusing. You need all the fuzzy, warm, snuggly things in the morning and evenings, but you should practically break out your bikini by 1PM. Sometimes I joke that LA is having an identity crisis this time of year. Is it going to try the whole seasons thing or just stay summer all year long? It made me think about the times in our lives when we try to be something we’re not. When we confuse others by the different versions of ourselves we portray to the world. I’ve found I am more guilty of this than I would care to admit. For the sake of making the people around me more comfortable, I will often be the version of myself I know they would prefer me to be. But guess what? Our identity is neither found in nor dependent on those around us! Over the past week, I think for the first time, I’ve felt truly free of caring what others think about me. A lesson I wish I would have learned years ago, but sometimes the big lessons take a little longer. I personally find my identity in God, who He says I am, and the purposes He has created me for. And there is such freedom in that for me. Whatever your beliefs are, I hope you take the time to know and appreciate exactly who you are. ♥️ The coziest, fuzzy wardrobe provided by @shopreddress #RDBabe
Being completely unplugged, disconnected and without cell service in the mountains this weekend was more of a blessing than I could have imagined. When we are constantly filling our minds with a steady stream of distractions, I don’t believe we are leaving the space needed to be in tune with ourselves, with nature, or with God. Sitting in silence allows us to process our own emotions, creative stirrings, and mental health. Exploring nature allows us to really appreciate this beautiful planet and want to preserve it. And I believe having a still and present mind allows us to hear God‘s guidance and promptings more clearly and truly experience his presence. This weekend I felt more in tune with myself, with nature, and with God than I had in a long time. I truly felt like I experienced his presence, and he reminded me how much he treasures and adores me, and YOU. Isn’t that wild? The God who created this gorgeous and magnificent planet values and loves YOU above all else. This weekend was magical and, from now on, you can find me playing out in nature with no cell service more often. Does anyone else experience this out in nature? Or have a different experience when they unplug from technology. I’d love to know your favorite piece of insight or your favorite experience when you took some time away from every day life. Share below ⬇️☺️
My nature-loving, country girl side is getting out of the city & escaping to the mountains this weekend, and I couldn’t be happier ☺️☺️ I LOVE the outdoors this time of year! Headed for the cabin life up in Big Bear - so maybe not camping, but I’ll at least consider it glamping 😂 What’s your favorite thing about going to the mountains or going camping? 🏔🏕⛰ 📸: @perrowphoto 👗: @astrthelabel
It’s my BIRTHDAYYY and I’ll eat ice cream if I want toooo 🥰🎉🎂🤪
Feeling Pretty Vine. 🌿🐆 Tried to come up with a Tarzan pun but I couldn’t swing it. Okay I’m done 😂😆 real talk though, my soul is CRAVING a nature adventure. Unplugging and getting out in nature is where I feel the most free and the closest to God. Where’s your favorite place to escape? Any recommendations for must hit campsites, parks or nature preserves?
We’re both ALL SMILES cause it’s almost MY BIRTHDAY WEEKENDDD 🥰😄🤗 there will be several of these cozy & cuddly mornings happening this week if I have anything to say about it!! Love this cuddle nugget @bellaraebarton
Oh hey there, Pumpkin ☺️🎃 it’s finally feeling like pumpkin szn to me so here’s my fav fall throwback 🎃🍁🤪 the 90 degree weather in LA can make it hard for me to feel like seasons are really changing. I realized I often want conditions to be perfect before I start something. This can be something small like wanting chilly weather and turning leaves before I jump into fall, or big life changes I want myself or the conditions around me to be perfect before I take the next step. BUT sometimes we just have to JUMP ON IN. So, yes, I’m finally jumping into fall, but I’m also evaluating what in my life I have I been putting off because conditions weren’t perfect - And where I need to take a blind leap of faith! Excited for the adventures ahead ☺️☺️ Does anyone else find themselves putting things off “for the right time”? Or have experience with taking that blind leap of faith? Let me know in the comments below!
All smiles cause it’s the first day of fall in just 2 short days 😍☺️ Bring on the denim and bonfires and pumpkin errything 👏🏼🎃🧡 What’s your favorite part of fall? Drop it below👇🏼💁🏼♀️ (and do we like the smile or smize pic better? 1 or 2? I couldn’t decide! ). . Also, I read the question the other day “do you spend most of your time in your imagination in your past, your present, or your future?” I realized I spend it in the future playing out the way I hope situations go or solving problems I’m worried will arise. And guess what? Worrying about the future will only rob us of our present. I’m not saying don’t plan for the future, but plan and then LET GO. Live in the present; sometimes you just have to take life one step at a time. Excited to put this into practice this fall💛🧡❤️
They grow up so fast😅💜These were taken ONLY 2.5 MONTHS APART...she’s getting so BIG!! 😳😳(Guess how old she is now ). 🐶 Also realizing all the CRAZY nicknames I’ve had for her over the past few months. Anyone else make up funny names? 😅 Her name is Bella and these are the things I call her: Bells Bell Bell Bella-boo Honey Bunny Hun bunz Muffin Muffin-head Floofy My little Floof-Ball Puppy Lil puppy Little girl Little one Little Nugget Chicken Nugget Lil Nug Nug-nug Nugget-head Ya little chicken nugget head. 😂😂 Which one is your fav? What’s your pet’s name and do you call them anything silly too?
“On Wednesdays, we wear PINK” (name that movie! 💞🤣 ) What’s your favorite throwback movie quote? Or which one do you quote from the most? Mine is this one 💁🏼♀️🙈 And the throwback TV show I quote from the most is definitely FRIENDS 😄 can’t wait to hear yours!
Out here WILDIN with my DAWG ✌🏼🐆😝Hope everyone has a PAWfect holiday weekend!. 🤪 This nugget was basically a sick baby wild animal when I brought her in (she was feral and born wild in the desert ) and even though she now loves humans and is (fairly ) trained lol, I think this child’s energy still gets more WILD by the day!! Who’s personality do you think is bubblier, me or the wild puppy @bellaraebarton ?. 🤣🤣 SWIPE - for my fav video of her ever 😂 Crazy that was only a few months ago. She’s growing so FAST!! What’s the silliest thing your pet has done?
Intentionality ✨ how often do we have really intentional conversations with our friends? Not the surface level stuff, not what’s new, not how’s the coffee, or work, or school, but the REAL stuff. Their heart, their struggles, their joys, their pains. I’m not going to lie; I used to be SO GOOD at dodging tough questions from friends. Never letting them all the way into my life & heart. But I’ve learned there’s greater strength in actually allowing people to see your weaknesses. Now, I make coffee dates my regular one-on-one time to check-in with friends - being intentional, open and honest. Letting people in can be scary. Being vulnerable can be scary. But secrecy breeds shame, and when we’re walking in freedom, shame has no place in our lives. If you need someone to open up to tell a trusted friend you need one-on-one time. And check-in with your friends who you haven’t in a while! A genuine listening ear can sometimes make a HUGE difference for a friend. Our hearts are important and they crave authentic community. And learning to be intentional and vulnerable with my friends has been one of the most beautiful and rewarding experiences. ✨ How do you practice intentionality with your friends? How do you make them feel you genuinely care about them and do you have any goals of being MORE intentional with them?
New Wheels, Who Dis?? 💁🏼♀️🤪💁🏼♀️ okay kidding... but I would love to play the type of character who actually drives this car! Who can see it? And what would the story be about?!. ✨ Also something that was stirring in my heart this morning: do you think it matters more the roads we take in life, or where our destination is? If you have vision and a dream of where you want to get in life, but you don’t enjoy the road trip getting there, you miss out on so much of your life! I used to live my life that way, but I’m learning to take special care for the little things in life these days. The small moments and chances we’re given to love on the people around us, show random acts of kindness, laugh with those dear to us, and wake up each morning to live THAT day’s adventure! I’m worrying less about the final destination and spending more time enjoying the open road ☺️☺️ Which is more important to you? • • • • • 📸 1&2: @glass_harbor 📸 3: @nicolebalsamophoto
As August wraps up, I can’t help but think about what a beautiful and joyful summer this has been. I feel blessed to have so many great reasons to smile and I love how infectious that feeling can be. Go share a smile with a stranger today 💛🤗 you never know the difference it could make for someone ✨✨
Bella serving puppydog eyes cause we missed #nationaldogday yesterday. Who did the puppy eyes better?? 😂🐶👀
What true friendship looks like: taking 100 pics together and only one turns out normal cause y’all only know how to be weird together 😂😂😂 Jokes aside: lately I’ve learned the importance of finding friends you can be COMPLETELY yourself around. It’s SO freeing to have those people in your life that not only accept your quirky side but EMBRACE it, love you FOR it, and JOIN it 💞 If you find yourself constantly worrying what your friends think of you, I challenge that you either need to change your heart or change your friends! You deserve to do life with those that love you exactly how you are, while still helping you to grow to the best version of yourself 💛 Who can relate? Tag someone you can be weird with 😍
Just a girl, living her best life, on a floatie, fully clothed 😂🌴☀️🌊👙 I guess I don’t let forgetting my swimsuit hold me back 🤷🏼♀️🤪Who thinks I made it off of this bad boy without falling fully clothed into the pool? 🙈💦
This summer’s been so sweet, I donut want it to end 😜🍩☀️ #amipunnyyet
It’s weekends like this past one that I find myself wishing I could press pause on life. Pause to this phase & season I’m in right now. This beautiful summer, living in this crazy, wonderful city that I love, doing life with some of the most talented, creative and vibrant people I have ever known. I know there will be times for more responsibility, times for adulting, being more career focused, growing up and starting a family one day. I’ve always been a big believer in growth and embracing change, but I’m just so in love with the present right now and that’s a very sweet place to be. This is definitely a season to grow on the inside, to learn to give myself more grace and to enjoy being present with the wonderful people my life has crossed paths with. Has anyone else been feeling like this lately?
Do you ever find yourself saying (or thinking ) the “if only I had...” script. Telling yourself you would be happy and fulfilled if only you had certain things/people/status you’ve been longing for. “If only I had: A nicer car A boyfriend/girlfriend A better body Money Fame The list goes on and on. The truth is, though some of these may be good things, they won’t ever truly fulfill that longing in your soul. And that’s a dangerous game to play out in our minds. I was recently reading a beautiful devotion by @lysaterkeurst on this and it really hit home for me. How often do we say these “if only I had...” statements and long for things that won’t actually fulfill us. People can’t withstand the pressure we put on them if we look to them to fill our needs and our heart’s longing. Possessions will eventually break down and we’ll be on to wanting the next best & newest thing Position and status work more to boost our pride & are never the true fulfillment to what our soul’s long for and will let us down if we depend on them. The truth is that nothing in the world around us is going to fill these gaps. It’s not wrong to want to improve our lives but we need to find contentment and joy right where we are and not depend on things that are fleeting for it. I find my relationship with God to be the only true answer for fulfillment for me, but even if you don’t believe in God, I encourage you to evaluate what you’re putting too much weight on to make you happy. Rearranging our thoughts and motives can go a long way 💛💛💛 . . . . . . 📸: @perrowphoto
