Fresh work with @parksproject - Each product purchased contributes directly to one of over 50 non-profit groups protecting parks and public lands in the US and Canada, providing vital funding for the ongoing care of National Parks and public lands. Sounds good, but what’s really happening? In Big Sur for instance, Parks Project supports the Ventana Wilderness Alliance. Each purchase helps support the outfitting, training, and deployment of trail crew volunteers. The trails in this country are subject to mudslides and wildfires so trail maintenance is a constant imperative. Trail work is also expensive and extremely labor-intensive and special tools are needed + multi-day work in the backcountry. To date, they’ve funded 342 trail crew volunteers. Happy to work with folks actively supporting our natural resources. Check the link in my bio for more! #ad

Some quick in between/unplanned moments from a fun shoot for Marshall this past summer. It can be challenging getting a group of 7 people out into the middle of nowhere at the same time, but everyone came together and made this shoot one of my favorites of the year. Thank you to @minatigerlily @aimeealysha @tucker .macdonald @c__nic @ryan_clowers @andyaustinphoto @chelsea_ea for making it all happen.
Would love to hear what this image makes you feel, if anything. @sparksss
Whirlwind couple of weeks in California shooting amazing projects with amazing people. Thank you so much to everyone who makes these things go off without a hitch, that’s what makes any photo magic actually happen. Shot last night on the incredible iPhone 11 Pro, now home to see my sweet wife.
In LA the next couple of days. Big Sur last week with @heather_roams
Last little bit of light from the west. @heather_roams
Big Sur with old friends. I sure forget how much I like California.
Last night in the bay with @autymsanson . Headed down to Big Sur for the weekend, looking for more people to create with.
On the way out to California early this week I took these three photos within about fifteen minutes of one another at the Utah/Nevada border. Three hours later I got one of the worst stomach bugs I can remember and spent what seems like a month getting over it. Not an ad for a gas station, just good light and a constant desire to create.
Sitting in another hotel room, this time in Reno, missing this woman something fierce. I sure love what I get to do and still can’t believe it, but I guess it’s a gift that it gets harder to be apart. If you’re lucky, time distills and fewer things matter, and the things left matter all the more. Can’t wait to see you, sweet woman.

1, 2, or 3? Medium format film from one of the first shoots i did with @minatigerlily
The first time @claire .mankins came to Montana to see me, August 2017. I would have married her then.
Swipe for before and afters: All of my presets are designed to take advantage of the things that I like about both film (softer tones, slight color shifts, grain, etc ) AND digital (ability to handle wide dynamic ranges, low light, infinitely adjustable ). Right now you can get my first 3 packs (47 presets total ) for $60 instead of the normal $121. Linkin bio
Some of you already found it, but I just took $61 off the price of my Lightroom 3 pack of presets (47 presets total ) - I’ll be switching the price back to normal before too long but it’s up for grabs right now. Link in bio!
This spring I got knocked on my ass. @muledragger asked me to go into the Bob Marshall Wilderness with him, delivering supplies to Big Prairie Ranger Station. 98 miles round trip through the most bad ass country I’ve seen in my life. I haven’t don’t anything with these photos yet, and honestly just looking at them is overwhelming. For someone who is outside all the time, I’d never actually experienced true wilderness before. Before this the furthest I’d been from a road is around 11 miles. I can’t say it yet, not sure of the words, but there is absolutely no substitute for wilderness and corridors of land. Being in a true wilderness has been one of the most affecting experiences of my life. I don’t know how to talk about it yet, but I know we need it. We all need it, even if you live across the country or the world, just to know it’s there, to have at least a handful of places that haven’t been ruined. To give us a reminder, a place, and to exist, imagine this, even without serving any other purpose for mankind except maybe to provide a window for one to look through. This is an example of my incoherent string of thoughts about all of this, but there will be more coming. Lots more to talk about land, about Chris, about the people spending their lives dedicated to this land. The Bob Marshall seems to lose funding every year - funding that already EXISTS, for this purpose, but gets moved and mismanaged. We’re coming for you, @u .s.forestservice
