  happy start of the week everyone TLDR; I am backing out of my Revolution Live gig on the 24th hosted by RAW Artists. If you bought a ticket, DM me and I will make sure you’re refunded. 📸: @mackenzietakesphotos ••• I want to mention that I hope event organizations of showcases like RAW understand the amount of time, effort, sacrifices, & love that artists (especially independent ) give to their work. If you claim that you are a platform that wants to showcase local up and coming artists, then there should be acknowledgement that those who might not have the platforms (or shmoney ) need more than just “exposure” to get by. I do not believe in not paying your artists for an event where you are claiming that you are an international organization that will bring in 800-1000 people and showcase over a dozen artists. I do not believe in asking artists to sell a certain amount of tickets in order to have their spot officially confirmed to showcase, if not sold then having the artist buy out the rest, keeping 50% of their profits after selling said amount, and not providing something as simple as parking for the show. I do not believe that getting tips on how to sell my tickets or getting headshots is a “benefit” I can claim from a 20 min set where my band and I have to be there for 4+ hours. I do not believe that people should tell artists to do something “for the love of it” because i wouldn’t choose to make this as a career if i didn’t. It’s already hard enough to be an independent artist and I don’t want to make it harder by endorsing an event that does not respect the amount of work that’s been put in. Maybe this event has benefited an up and coming artist in the past, but I know my time will come to perform at other big venues when I can receive the proper respect for my art and for myself ¯\_(ツ )_/¯
