Today is an opportunity to contribute towards ensuring girls worldwide are heard, respected and educated. Whether it’s $20, $50 or $200...every amount counts. Quick math: if everyone following me donated $5, that’d be about $230,000 towards @shesthefirst goal of sending 75 girls to school in 2020. Can we do that? Show people that social media is a powerful tool for change, sisterhood and that small groups of compassionate, focused people can make all the difference? Watch the full video and meet four young women who, with their education, are able to reach their extraordinary potential: shesthefirst.org/extraordinary - Then via their website, honor your own #ExtraordinaryWoman by making a donation in her name.👩🏽🎓🌟 Let’s do this! #GivingTuesday #LoveOutLoud

Sometimes, the most simplistic messages are the most profound. When I think of Fred Rogers and what his life demonstrated, I think of the golden rule. I think of kindness. I think of practicing the art of seeing the divinity and good in every person. This does not mean we accept or ignore injustice. It means we make decisions from a place of worthiness and compassion. I think we’ve been misled to think our world’s complex problems require complex solutions. I believe it is quite the opposite. It’s no coincidence that every major religious tradition has their version of the golden rule. We are meant to be kind and collaborative toward one another because it not only benefits us individually - it progresses mankind forward as a species. Be kind, be kind, be kind. Who else is ready for ‘A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood’ this weekend?? #morekindness
Doodled this four years ago. Words by @vav .ava from her book “you are safe here.” Writing and painting became the way that I got to know myself in my adulthood. I made it a daily habit just because it felt good. Do you have a practice that allows you to return to yourself? To reset?
When I get still enough and can quiet the stream of constant thoughts - this is how I feel - this is who I truly am.
Is it weird to quote myself? Oh well I’m doing ittttt. I had the chance to chat recently with the warm, fun-loving, spiritual, creative sorceress @thegracechon and it was one of my favorites of all time. I think mostly because I opened up about some new philosophies I have on life now that I have a toddler and am a little older, wrinklier and wiser. 🙃I feel more ME than ever before, ya know? Plus Grace totally gets me and I started to wonder if we’d swiftly move onto mental telepathy next. Anyways, tune in if you’d like to hear us talk about our latest ah-ha’s and epiphanies. I’d love to know how you feel, too. Especially when it comes to creative expression in motherhood, business ownership, and all the other things. Link in profile. ✌️
One of my favorite quotes of all time. The sacred space is within each of us if we know how to access it.
Inspired by lots of toddler playtime but also thinking about how much suffering is caused from not realizing we are perfect as we are and we have options if we let go of what’s not working and trust that there is something or someone better for us. ✨✨✨
Still on a girl power high after celebrating the 10 year birthday of my favorite organization @shesthefirst ! 🎉🎉🎉🎈🎈🎈They are a testament to what is possible (in only 10 years! ) when a team has tenacity, integrity and dedication to making a difference for girls everywhere. I was honored to participate and illustrate a timeline showcasing the real impact they’ve made for girls but always BY girls. The women that benefit from their program turn around and give it right back to their own communities through leadership, mentorship and representation. It’s incredible. Hearing each of the alumni’s stories reminded me of the Rumi quote: “You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean, in a drop.” When each of us is liberated, educated, heard and respected... guess what? It affects the whole collective. We are ALL uplifted! Thanks to everyone for showing up and supporting. They were able to raise their goal of $50k (and beyond! ) in under 10 minutes. With this funding, they’ll open their first international office in Nairobi!!!! Cheers to you all @shesthefirst and the fearless leaders @tammytibbetts and @cjbrandt and @heykatieriley ❤️So proud and inspired.
Take care, friends. Future generations await their turn to experience this Earth. Wise words from Wilma Mankiller. Love and blessings on #IndigenousPeoplesDay 🙏
Today is international #DayoftheGirl yet in too many places around the world, girls are treated as secondary citizens and denied rights to education, told who and when to marry, and blocked from leadership roles. We all need to rise up and speak out. Since she was a young girl, Meghan Markle has been an advocate for women & girl’s rights and equality and I love that she continues to use her platform for good. Her powerful words in a recent speech align perfectly with my favorite organization @shesthefirst and their mission: Every girl, no matter where she is born, deserves to be educated, respected, and heard. She’s The First fights for a world where every girl chooses her own future by teaming up with local effective grassroots organizations. Check out the #GirlsBillofRights they’ve just released, written by a Global Girls’ Panel, in partnership with @akilidada @maia_impact and artist @louisacannell . I’ll be in NYC on October 24th celebrating @shesthefirst ten year anniversary! Get your tickets at shesthefirst.org. #GirlsBillofRights #ShesTheFirst #IDG2019 #GirlsRights
Although 46% of financial services employees are women, only approx. 15% hold positions at the executive level. Only 15%! That’s BS but there are many actively changing this stat as we speak! They’re not only on the RISE but they’re mindfully taking others with them as they kick open these doors. I was honored to create this custom piece to celebrate America’s Most Powerful Women in Banking this year for @protiviti . These women are breaking barriers left and right and creating a culture of solidarity, collaboration and inclusivity.
Thank you, Greta Thunberg.
I look at my 1.5 year old daughter and see her searching for the answers to these questions from me. And then I realize at the root of most of my fear, anxiety and imbalance - I’m still asking these same questions from my youth. I became pretty emotional when I recognized that I have been waiting for someone to soothe and console my old wounds and worries. Just the way that Luca looks to me wide-eyed when she’s hurting. Why not soothe and console myself? The very empathetic, curious and sensitive younger Kimothy (Kimmy ) that always wondered if she was good, loved and safe. When I start to react from a place that is anything but love, I try to checkin with Kimmy and see what’s triggering it. Then I can console and soothe her. And seriously, it calms me down pretty quickly. When I think about some of the most hateful acts committed or seemingly hateful people, I wonder about the deep wounds they’re still carrying with them from their childhood. If this resonates, take a deep dive in some inner child work. Try writing a letter to your younger self or soothing her/him/them when you feel upset, anxious, and off balance. There are many experts on reparenting and inner child work out there waiting to support you. It’s time to heal ourselves, friends. The world needs us to.

Loved painting this beautiful message. When we prioritize our health, we become more creative. We feel better. We function better. We are better able to learn and lead. The SMILE Score is a simple tool to support your health, created by @doclauravater (mama & Internal Medicine physician ). It is a daily check-in tool, with a score ranging from 0 to 5. Each letter (S,M,I,L,E ) represents one daily habit important for physical and mental health, based on decades of research. S – Sleep enough: Did I rest today for at least 7 hours? Was my sleep restorative? M – Move my body: Did I exercise today for 30 minutes or more? I – Inhale. Exhale: Did I meditate, practice mindfulness, or find other ways to de-stress? L - Love and connect: Did I interact meaningfully with another person? E – Eat to nourish: Did I choose mostly non-processed, plant-based foods today? Take a minute today & check in with yourself. How are you doing prioritizing your health? How can you take steps to get back on track?
Let’s reclaim the respect and reverence our mother 🌎deserves. And thank you Rachel Carson, brave soul and truth teller for showing us the way.
“...but those people who get disappointed - it’s really okay. Because the people who really care for you - the people who are ROOTING FOR YOUR RISE - will not be disappointed. The only people who are disappointed are the people who have their OWN agenda. And their agenda is not aligned with your agenda.” - @oprah 👑 Have fun disappointing and being misunderstood, queens! Truth tellers who relentlessly follow their own path are extra scary to those who want to maintain the status quo. ☺️👑⚡️💪
I rarely share my unfinished artwork. Should I post more of my doodles? I’ve been thinking about this concept lately - the relationship between what we consume versus what we create. What are your thoughts on it? Is there a part of you that wants to create? To express? To release? And what happens when we deny that side of ourselves? Shout out to the rad design shop in Denver @consumeandcreate who introduced this concept to me. ⚡️ Sketch posted from a cute little coffee shop in small town Maine where I’m the only person under 60 and naturally, am looking down at my phone instead of talking or reading the paper. 🤷♀️
Forever inspired by this iconic, charitable, ambitious woman - Diane Von Furstenberg. ✨ Do you have a clear vision of the woman you are becoming?
It’s Virgo Season, baby!!! And I’m a ripe 35 years old today. Yes, I made myself a birthday card. Two in fact. This is the first time I’ve done this and I have no idea why I waited so long! An ex once told me with a smirk, “No one loves Kim more than Kim.” Totally meant as an insult but now I’m like do you realize that you gave me the BEST compliment ever?!! K I’m off to listen to Lizzo all day and eat a pile of pancakes and bacon. #ImMyOwnSoulmate #DamnSheTheOne 🧁🎈🥂 PS make yourself a bday card and show me! Or use these. Love you. 🎂
🙏 I love wondering about my end days. It focuses my attention on who I am and who I’m becoming. When I asked my 97 year old grandma if she had any big life regrets...do you know what she said? “I wish I would have had more sex!!!” 😂🥰Remember, even when it contradicts popular culture...we are here to enjoy ourselves, to love and to be loved. One more fun fact about Evelyn, she just started drawing while in the nursing home. This is the first time she’s awakened to her artistic side and she’s on a rampage! Even gifting her artwork to family and the staff. Her drawings are usually of beautiful women in elaborate gowns and accessories, almost like elongated fashion illustrations. Beautiful, right?
