“Another human cannot possibly provide all of the outrageously diverse and vital nourishment that we once got from being in relationship with dragonflies and swallowtails and stones and lichen and turtles. It’s just not possible. We used to carry on personal relationships with the sun and the moon and the stars! To try and get all that, now, from another person — from another nervous system shaped so much like our own — continually blows apart our relationships, it explodes so many of our marriages, because they can’t withstand that pressure.” -David Abram
It’s like we were a big touring band but instead of driving a van we were riding bikes and instead of playing gigs we were camping out by creeks and eating lots of snacks.
Me, right after riding/sliding down one of the steepest descents I’ve ever gone down. Thanks for the photo @the_grape_pie_gang
I literally scared the 💩 out of Kendrick today but I think he liked it in the end.

An arrangement of steel, aluminum, canvas, and leather, with too many snacks from the health food store under the hood. Missing the days of living out of stuff sacks and sleeping on the ground every night. Disclaimer: the primary reason for this post is for the @whatbars @velo_orange contest. 🤷🏽♂️
If you ever see me put on my Descent Goggles™️, you know it’s time to get rowdy. Thanks for the photo, @mildlymundane
This is what genuine trust looks like. Thank you @blackholelectron for showing me the ropes. 😎
Just received correspondence from @yellowhausbicycles that there are only one (of the 40 I made earlier this year ) of these bags left in the shop. Thank you to everyone that purchased one! If you’re local, go to Yellow Haus to buy the last bag, and can provide proof, I’ll give you a high five and buy you a coffee.

Have a seat at the table and join the conversation; how can we develop without displacement? Thank you @rayraymitrano , @540westmain, @rocfoodnotbombs , and all of the Parcel 5 community programmers for making this very important event possible. If you haven’t yet, reach out to Ray Ray to see how you can get involved with the P5CP underwriters.

TL;DR ||| @blackholelectron and I camped along Spray River in Banff for a few nights and we bathed in it, soaked our sore muscles in it, and drank directly from it. It was the cleanest water I have ever tasted without a filter. While I look back on this experience with fondness, it is easy forget about the Sioux tribe in North Dakota, who’s water supply is threatened constantly by the 500,000 barrels of oil flowing 100 feet below the Missouri River half a mile upstream from the reservation. Dakota Access and other Big Oil™️ companies are donating thousands of dollars to local first responders (in case of emergencies ), which is good, but I fear it’s not enough. Obviously in an ideal situation our dependence on fossil fuel would be on a decline, eventually weening us off of the big oil teet. In the meantime, the most much of us can do is focus more locally on what we can do to use less oil, shrink our footprint, and be excellent to each other all while standing in solidarity with the Sioux.
Yeah we rode the GDMBR from Banff to Whitefish but I think this hike up Mt. Rundle was the craziest thing I’ve done in one day. Still feeling the direct effects of it, both physically and emotionally.

We finished the Banf ➡️ Whitefish section of the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route and now I’m very dusty, have a sore butt, and Homeless In Montaña™️ for 11 days.
This is Davie’s @velo_orange Camargue. I made all three of the bags on this bike in various stages of my bag-making “career” (oldest to newest, left to right ). It’s really a joy to see the progress I have made as a bag designer//maker represented on one bicycle. Thanks Dave for the continued support and love. Also thank you for lending me your crankset this month since I fucked mine up. Not photo’d: the DOZENS of other bags Dave has had me make for him.

I’m itching to “ride” this route again. #olympusxa2 #portra400 #swiftcompasscontest
@yellowhausbicycles AKA our Swift Campout Wizard Leader led a great (albeit wet ) trip this past weekend. Thanks for that. #swiftcampout
The elusive (futile ) self portrait // in my element ~
Apparently there is a "National Sewing Machine Day" and it is today, June 13th. This chunk of metal is the backbone of my design/art/making practice and I am thankful everyday for having it. I also use it as a place to put stickers from businesses and people I respect and support for inspiration while I'm working. Who knew sewing could be so Fun™
Although most days I shrug off his wild ideas, unapologetically fiscal tendencies, and all around lazy/flaky approach to planning, @ryanscottdavis is one person I hold in high regard. If you see him around, complement his wide handlebars or tell him his bike is too heavy. He'll appreciate both equally. #winoariders
I'm the kind of person that gives titanium sporks and spork-themed-haikus as road trip gifts. Have an awesome two and a half weeks @chloeloomis and Alex! (Alex doesn't have Instagram anymore )
Those bags I've been building for the past few weeks are now in stock at @yellowhausbicycles They'll be available online this Sunday if you're not local. Also here's a photo of a very pretty @rivbike Sam Hillborne with one of the bags strapped to it. They make a very nice pair if you ask me.
