I'll never forgot when I was in elementary school and we began having art classes. One of our assignments was to make an art piece out of yard and glue. I meticulously arranged every piece of yarn in swirls and circles in perfectly matched colors. The moment I saw my vision coming to life, this sense of joy and accomplishment washed over my body. I was instantly hooked on the love for art and that feeling I felt every time I created an art piece I was proud of. Over the years, math took over my brain and I chose I career that would best serve my financial future rather than a career that would allow my creativity to thrive. - So even though these cookies are VERY time consuming and I don't get to make them very often, it brings me that same wave of joy and accomplishment when I see every cookie come to life. It makes it even better to know that I was able to create these for a very special person in my life. We've been "sisters" since we were babies. I called her papaw, papaw and her mom and dad have always been my second set of parents! Now she's about to welcome a little girl of her own and today we had such a great time celebrating her with a beautiful shower! - What special talents do you have hidden that you wish you had more time to spend time on?
You won't be successful until YOU'RE ready! That's one thing I learned from my own health journey. I can provide you all the accountability I can possibly give (without showing up to your house, picking you up of the couch, and forcing you to push play on your workout ), but if you aren't ready, it's never gonna work. - The most perfect exercise and nutrition plan will not work unless you're ready to DO the work. - I'm not here to force you into something you're not ready for. I'm just here to let you know that it's important to take care of your health. You're worthy of the investment. And when YOU'RE ready, I'll be here. Ready to support you, encourage you, and provide you with an amazing nutrition and exercise plan that WILL get you the results you've always wanted...IF you put in the WORK!
None of us are immune to adversity. We will all experience it at some point in our lives. It's what you choose to do with it that will define your life. Will you rise and become stronger because of it, or will you allow it to defeat you? It's your choice.
Yes, that is a pumpkin in the bed with Kamryn! 🎃 After my grocery trips, the kids are always excited to see what new foods I bring home! Today, Brayden was most excited for the honey crisp apple cider (he's been asking me for apple cider since fall hit ), and Kamryn was most excited about the pumpkin bagels with pumpkin cream cheese and...the large pumpkin I got her for decorating! - She has rolled it around in my office chair all evening and then asked if she could sleep with it tonight. This girl cracks me up! - I did also bring home my typical healthy finds, and also found a new grape I had never tried called Muscat Beauty. They are delicious! - I'm a firm believer in finding a good balance when making a healthier lifestyle change. We enjoy things like pumpkin bagels and apple cider from time to time, but we also balance it with healthy fruits and veggies! - You don't have to cut out food groups, you don't have to feel deprived...you just have to learn how to eat the right foods in the right portions, and do that 80% of the time...the other 20%...eat some pumpkin bagels with pumpkin cream cheese! - Now, it's Kamryn's turn for snuggle time with Mom, which means I'm also snuggling with a pumpkin! 😂
Girl on the left was in survival mode. Trying to balance mom life and work life. No time left for herself. Tired, depleted, constantly running on fumes, but her kids were happy, and that's all that mattered. - Fast forward a few years ahead and nothing changed. Still not making time for herself. Stressed, but managing it all. Looking strong...when people asked how she was doing, she put on a smile and said we're great. Two healthy kids, a good career, a great husband. Life was good. - But suppressing your stress and not caring for yourself will eventually catch up. Sometimes in the form of an ER trip (that was my case ). Sometimes there will be milder signs that we ignore. Feeling overwhelmed, feeling bad about yourself, headaches, chest pain, frequent colds, inability to focus, rapid heart rate, racing thoughts. Stress can show up in our lives in so many different ways, but we push past it because we're MOM. - Being mom is important. A lot of people rely on you and that's even more reason to take care of yourself. What's best for you is best for them. Fill your cup first, to the point of overflowing, so that you have an endless supply to give!
That feeling you have deep down inside that tells you that you were meant for more...listen to it. There are better things in store for your life. Stop playing small. Start allowing yourself to dream big. There are plenty of opportunities out there to get you where you want to be in life, but you've got to learn to break free from the limitations you've set for yourself. - You may have been thinking for a while that you would love to do what I do, but you don't believe in yourself enough to say yes. Just say yes, and as you begin to work consistently toward reaching your dreams, the belief will come. - If this shy, timid introvert who had forgotten how to dream can become a person with 100% belief that she will one day live a life SHE designed, so can you! So join me, let's lock arms and make our impact in the world...and leave a legacy for our children!
Ok here's the deal. I have the house to myself (every mom's dream right? )...but I'm banned from exercising or baths (stitches 😫 ). So, not sure what to do with my time. If you had a few hours to yourself to do WHATEVER you wanted, what would it be??
I remember feeling out of control of what was happening. Not a good feeling for someone who likes to feel like she's got everything under control at all times. - The first time I woke up from a deep sleep with my heart rate over 160, I thought my time of Earth was done. My thoughts immediately started racing...who will take care of my family, I don't want my kids to grow without a mom, what if they end up with an "evil stepmom" (I know right...thanks Cinderella for that thought 😂 ). It was one of the scariest times of my life. I dialed 911 and handed the phone to Michael. I tried focusing on staying calm...getting control of my body again. Nothing was working. That was my first ride in a ambulance. It was scary, I felt out of control, and I knew it was a feeling I never wanted to have again. - By the time I got to the hospital, my heart rate had returned to normal (of course ) and they couldn't find anything wrong with me. Ok great, but there is something definitely wrong because that is not normal!! - 2 different times of wearing a heart monitor (once for a whole month ), I was still having this episodes, but nothing was physically wrong with my heart. - I went into my doctor's office that day ready to start taking SOMETHING to help me not feel this way anymore (this coming from a person who hates taking medicine...I'm the least compliant patient ever ). - I was a little surprised when my doctor looked at me and said, "Amanda, you work a stressful job, you have small kids and a family at home to take care of. Your body never gets a break. Are you doing anything to release that stress?" Well, NO, I have a job and small kids at home, I don't have time to do anything else. He says, "I'm not prescribing any medicine right now, but you need to establish a consistent workout routine. If that doesn't help, then come back and see me." - I'm not saying exercise will cure everyone's anxiety. But guess who didn't have to go back for medication? I haven't had an episode like that since, and that was almost 3 years ago! - The physical transformation isn't the most important...it's just an outcome of taking care of your health and yourself!
Yesterday we took the kids to Jump Jam trampoline park and they had a blast! Afterwards, we went out to eat which is something we rarely ever do as a family! It can be hard to find healthy options on every menu, plus the financial aspect of it...I can buy a whole week's worth of groceries for what we spent at the restaurant last night! - I read Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover book several years ago and it completely changed my outlook on money. I decided to start working toward being debt free by 40! That's been my mantra since then. I'm running out of time, but we've made some good progress! - That's why I used Groupon to buy tickets to Jump Jam (plus got cash back through Ebates ), and we used a coupon for a free appetizer at Texas Roadhouse. - It's also why I was open to an opportunity that allowed me to make extra money from home. Dave Ramsey recommended getting a second job to pay off debt and I KNEW I didn't have time for that! I barely have time for my one job and kids, but I can swing something from home. It's an added bonus that it's doing something that I absolutely love and brings joy to my life...I would honestly do it for free! - So it's like icing on the cake that it helps us pay down debt faster, and still allows us to have fun family outings and trips while we're at it. Last month I made enough to make a whole extra student Ioan payment...and if you don't know how expensive pharmacy school is, it's like an extra house payment! - I'm just glad I was in the right mindset to be open to an opportunity that required me to think outside the box. It's been such a blessing in so many ways!
You say tomato, I say tomato...you say pyramid scheme, I say an opportunity that is completely changing my life and my body. - So Suzie Q down the street told you that Beachbody is a pyramid scheme and it doesn't work for anyone. Nobody ever makes money in those things except for the people at the top. Did Suzie Q also tell you that she quit a month in because she figured out that in order to be successful, she had to actually put in the work to grown her business AND workout! - She probably didn't even research the product and find out all the health benefits of the shake that I drink every day that helps my body adapt to stress, replaces the good bacteria in my digestive tract, boosts my immune system, and is full of antioxidants that clear free radicals in my body (aka, fights cancer ). - You going to keep listening to Suzie Q down the street, or would you rather listen to a pharmacist that actually put in the research to make sure these products will improve your health. And a busy mom who actually put in the hard work of working out from home for a year to prove that these workouts work...if you put in the work! - As for me, I'm going to be over here making an impact in the health of others and helping resolve our modern day health issues (aka living out my passion for preventative care )...while I completely change my body. You're welcome to join me anytime when you realize Suzie Q was full of crap!
We always wait until the last minute...like Amazing 2 day shipping or grabbing what's left at Walmart last minute!
What if you tried something different and believed in yourself for once? What if you didn't allow yourself the option of quitting? What if you just viewed this as a healthier way to live the rest of your life, instead of jumping all in of a deprivation or crash diet that sets you up for failure because you feel like crap and crave ALL the things while you're on it? - What if you just focused on your health? - As a pharmacist, I see all the negative things that can happen when you don't take care of your body, 80% of which can be prevented with proper nutrition and exercise, yet I couldn't commit to taking care of my health. Until I had to focus on it after landing in the ER one night and suffering with heart palpitations for months. I wasn't taking care of myself and it finally caught up to me. - When I was forced to focus on my health, it changed my perspective. Looking back, I was never able to commit to anything long term because I was only focused on things that would get me quick results so I could look good in my bathing suit on the beach! Eat only protein, I'm all in...until day 2 and I can't stand the thought of eating another piece of chicken! Cabbage soup diet...heck ya, I love some cabbage! I made it to maybe day 3. Skinny belly diet, low carb diet, Atkins, vinegar, lemon water, green tea, tumeric...if it claimed to offer quick weight loss, I tried it! It worked in the short term, but that's about it. - Until you find a why that won't allow you to quit, you'll keep quitting. If your health isn't a big enough why, I don't know what is! Don't be like me and wait until a trip to the ER to realize you need to change! - If you need a short commitment that is budget friendly, I have a 7 day jump start group that starts October 21st! I'll share all my tips and knowledge that you can utilize to make a healthy lifestyle change, even with a busy life. No more guessing on what you need to do to get healthy. No more crash diets to lose weight. No more feeling like you're alone on your journey...I got you girl! If you're ready, message me for details!
I remember when I was little, always being in the kitchen helping my mom. I'll never forget creating one of my first specialties...steamed broccoli with cheese melted on top! I've definitely been an avid cheese lover most of my life. I remember we had guests over and I offered them a serving of my newest creation. I've also loved being a host from a young age as well! - Whether or not my mom realized it, she was teaching me healthy habits in the kitchen that I would carry into my adult life. She always read food labels, watched for artificial colors and added sugar. We always had vegetables to eat with dinner (even if it was Veg-All from a can...we couldn't afford the fresh stuff 😄 ), and sodas were only allowed once a week on Friday night pizza night! These healthy habits were slowly picked up on and learned subconsciously. - That's why I know the importance of modeling the same healthy habits for my kids. They're always watching, even when we don't realize it. Show them the importance of fueling your body with the right foods, but also teach them they can treat themselves without feeling guilty. It's all about finding a balance and having a healthy relationship with food. - You may be thinking, I don't even know how to do this myself, how can I teach my kids? If you need a hand with nutrition, I'm here to help! - What's your favorite childhood memory in the kitchen?
Love, serve, grow! These words have been a big focus in my life over the past year. - Last year I found myself at a point in my life feeling dissatisfied. To the outside world I may have looked like I had it all, but there was something missing. I didn't know what was missing, and I didn't really know that something WAS missing. It took me taking on an opportunity that was out of my comfort zone and a year of growth, to now be able to look back and see what it was. Serving! - Most of my life, the focus was on me. My grades, my education, my career, my family. But this past year, I've really had the opportunity to focus on the goals of others, both in the health and financial realm. It's a different feeling when you're able to help someone else reach a goal that they didn't realize was possible for them. - "You can have everything in life you want, if you if you will just help enough other people get what they want." -Zig Ziglar - When my focus shifted outward to others and their goals, that's when I really started feeling fulfillment. - You may be like me. Not really knowing something is missing, but knowing you are meant for MORE! If you'd like to have a platform to make an impact and spend the next year focusing on LOVING, SERVING, and GROWING, then click on the link in my bio to find out more about what I do. You may discover the missing piece of your puzzle...that you didn't even realize you were missing!
Today I went and spoke to my kids' 👩👧👦 classes about being a pharmacist for career day! (And since I had my white coat on and actually had my hair fixed on my day off, I made Michael take a picture with my "professional camera" to update my 10 year old head shot at the pharmacy 😳 ) - This was a big thing for me in so many ways. - 1 ) I HATE public speaking 🙊, but this year has been all about conquering my fears and getting out of my comfort zone, so I pushed myself and did it anyway! 🙌 - 2 ) I've always told myself that if asked to speak for my kid's class about my career as a pharmacist, I would do it. Like Michael told me last night, you never know what kid will be inspired by you! (And that's what I told myself this morning when I thought my heart would beat out of my chest from anxiety )! - 3 ) I can honestly say that last year I was growing to resent my job. Not because I hate pharmacy, but because I was only focused on the negatives. I was focused on the time it took me away from my family; I was focused on not being able to help others with preventative care the way I wanted to; I was allowing myself to be overwhelmed by the daily demands of the job. I felt like going into work every day was slowly sucking the joy out of my life...ok that was a bit dramatic, but you get the point. - This past year has been a growing phase for me in so many ways and has literally touched every area of my life...in a good way! And most importantly, it has reignited my love for pharmacy. What changed? - 👩⚕️I found a platform to help others more in the preventative aspect of health and continue my pharmacy education to be better equipped to educate others in this area (including my patients ). This fills me with passion and purpose every day and gives me the opportunity to make a positive impact in today's modern health issues! - 👩⚕️I look for opportunities to serve and help others instead of allowing myself to give into the overwhelm of the daily stressors. - 👩⚕️I regained pride in my accomplishments as a pharmacist. - 👩⚕️I protect my joy with gratitude instead of letting negativity steal it! - Sometimes a little mindset shift can completely change your outlook!
Sometimes you just pick a career based on the clothes you have available and the fact that you've been wanting to take a stuffed animal to school with you and this is your chance to do it! 😂 - But seriously, I hope these kids always know that they can choose and be whatever they want to be when they grow up. My parents never put a cap on what they believed I could do, but there were times...a lot of times, that I put a cap on myself. - We all have that self doubt that creeps in, no matter how much someone else believes in us. Self doubt is something I've been working on a lot the past year. Lots of personal development books, uplifting podcasts, and riding on the coat tails of someone else that believes in me more than I believe in myself...and finally, I'm getting rid of a lot of that self doubt. - It takes work to quieten our inner mean girl. It takes work to extinguish the self doubt. - We all need to listen to our own advice. Stop telling your kids that they can be whatever they want to be, without believing that YOU can do the same!
This morning's sunrise was beautiful, and I'm just now getting a chance to share it. It's been a busy day for sure, but practicing gratitude helps me slow down and appreciate the good in every day. It's easy to get hung up on our never ending to do list. It's easy to get hung up on the stress. But when you stop and look for the good, you'll find it. There are many things I'm thankful for today, and this beautiful sunrise is one of them!
You become the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. - If I become the average of the ladies I'm surrounded by this weekend, then I'll become one amazing person. - I have friends who support, encourage, listen, and understand. We're not here to compete with each other, we're here to enhance each other's lives. I've truly hit the jackpot when it comes to friends. - Don't settle for less just to have someone to hang out with. Find a tribe that builds you up. Find a tribe that eases your stress instead of creating more! Find a tribe that cheers for you when you succeed and lifts you up when you fail. The people you choose surround yourself with impacts your present and will shape your future...choose wisely!
Are you willing to keep watering the seed while the roots are forming, or do you give up after a week when you see nothing happening? - In a world where we're accustomed to immediate gratification, it's easy to give up on something we really want when we don't see results immediately. - But think about a tree. Once a seed is planted, we continue to water it with the belief that something will eventually sprout. But in the beginning, everything is happening below the surface. If the process was rushed, a good root system wouldn't form. The tree would sprout quickly, but one wind storm would blow it over and erase all the progress made...and it would be forced to start from scratch. - But give the tree time to form deep roots, continue to water it day, after day, after day, having patience because you know that this tree will be strong and endure the strong winds. It will be able to bend and sway without breaking and falling. And with time, that seed will grow into a magnificent beauty, far surpassing that seed that sprouted quickly with shallow roots. - Which tree would you choose? I think we would all go with the stronger tree that took more time. - So tell me, why do we try to rush the results? In our health and fitness journey, in a new business venture, in learning a new skill? Why do we not give ourselves time to learn, to grow, to build a good root system? - I know why! Because we're too busy worried about catching up to the tree beside us that has already put in the time to grow it's roots before it broke the surface and grew into a beautiful, magnificent tree with sprawling limbs. We only saw what happened above the surface. We didn't even stop to think about the work that was happening below the surface...and the time and energy it took before anyone even noticed. - So stop trying to rush the process. Stop giving up on something just because you aren't getting results as quickly as you want. You might be giving up right before you're about to break the surface! 🌳
I used to be extremely flexible (I cheered from 3rd grade until I was a senior in high school ), but when I quit cheering, I quit thinking about stretching. I didn't realize how important it was for my overall well being, until I started having a lot of issues with back pain. I thought it was related to being on my feet 10 hours a day at work! I would go to the chiropractor routinely because of my back issues, and he would tell me that I needed to work on my flexibility...but I tend to not listen sometimes (aka I need to learn things the hard way 🤷♀️ ). - So once I started a workout routine that incorporated stretching, I started realizing the benefits of it! I hardly ever have to visit the chiropractor now because I never have back pain! - Here are some other benefits of stretching: - 🧘Help improve flexibility (increases your range of motion ) - 🧘Assist in correct posture by lengthening tight muscles that pull areas of the body away from their intended position (because of so much time at our computers, many of us have tight chest muscles which pulls the shoulders and head forward, leaving us with a hunched shoulder look ) - 🧘Increases blood and nutrient supply to muscles, thereby possibly reducing muscle soreness - 🧘Even a short amount of time (10-15 minutes ) of stretching can calm the mind, provide a mental break, and give your body a chance to recharge - 🧘Workouts like yoga or pilates offer you a chance to spend an hour releasing tension physically and mentally.
Stop insulting your Creator by tearing down His creation. - Stop looking in the mirror and immediately finding faults or criticizing yourself. - YOU are a masterpiece! - Would you insult an artist's work just because it isn't exactly like another one of his masterpieces? No! It's the uniqueness of every individual art piece that makes so interesting and beautiful. - Next time you look in the mirror and the negative thoughts start to flow, remember that you are a masterpiece created by the ultimate artist...I guarantee it will be harder to insult His creation!
10 years ago today, I was just trying to figure out how to keep a little person 👶 alive. I was back to work full time as at the pharmacy on top of navigating this thing called mom life. In the morning I would wake up, nurse, spend as much time with Brayden as possible before throwing on some clothes and rushing off to work. Not long after being at work, I would have to run to the cleaning closet 🧹 to pump, then if I was lucky enough to have another pharmacist with me, I would rush home to nurse Brayden while inhaling my lunch, run back to work, cleaning closet trip to pump, work the rest of my shift, rush home to nurse Brayden again, play as much as possible before his bedtime, nurse again, and pass out from exhaustion from being a mom, a pharmacist, and a dairy cow. 🐄 - On top of that, I was dealing with all of these changes going on with my body. Let's just say the only positive thing was that I actually had something up top to be proud of #breastfeedingmom . I was a mom 🤱, with a "mom bod", and I was too exhausted to care if it ever went back to "normal". Throw a second pregnancy 🤰 on top of that a year later, and things only got worse from there. - I remember when Kamryn was a year old, and I was no longer living that #nursingmomlife I looked in the mirror and decided I was ready for a change. That first time I popped in a Jillian Michael's DVD and did my first post kids workout 🏋️, I thought I would die. I was doing this move where you hop and switch your feet back and forth, and my legs actually stopped moving. I had to stop and sit in the recliner because I could hardly stand, and I thought to myself, "wow, how did you let yourself get this out of shape??" - My fitness journey continued to be a rocky road 🎢 for another 6 years after that, and I didn't find long term success until I found my solution a little over a year ago. It took me that long, with a ton of failures to finally get to the point where I am now. So don't look at me now and think you could never do what I do. Because that woman sitting in the recliner that day never thought she could be the woman she is now!
The crispness in the air brings so many memories flooding back from childhood. My sister and I spent a lot of time outside (even if by force from our parents...but now I'm thankful that we grew up that way ), so fall meant a lot of time raking leaves into piles. You know what piles of leaves mean for a kid... jumping into that freshly raked pile!! I can still hear the crunch of the leaves as we jumped and laughed, and the smell as we rolled around in them... I'm sure my mom spent a lot of time picking leaves out of our hair before throwing us in the shower! - Our parents also helped out a lot with our fall festival at the school and our dad LOVED being in charge of the haunted house. He was good at scaring people (he was also good at torchuring me with grandaddy long legs, but that's another story 😆 )...I remember one year he even decked our barn out as a haunted house and opened it to the neighborhood. I don't think I was allowed to go through it, but I did get to help set it up! - So the crisp fall air and leaves on the ground always makes me smile. It also makes me crave anything pumpkin (did I mention the roasted pumpkin seeds my mom always made for us after we carved our pumpkins? 😋 ) So today when I woke up to a crisp fall morning, I decided I needed that make a smoothie bowl from my pumpkin superfoods powder, and it was every bit of delicious I dreamed it would be! - This was like dessert, without the guilt, but with all the memories! 🍂🍁🎃
Confession: I don't get ALL my results from home...sometimes I get them from a hotel room, or the backyard of a beach house, or a campground. My workouts can literally go anywhere with me...even to the gym (if I had time for that ). - I have no excuse that I forgot my DVDs or equipment, because I can stream them from my phone (and let's be real, none of us forget our phones ), and there are several workouts that require NO equipment. - No excuses left for me when it comes to working out on vacay! And honestly, I look forward to starting my day with it...because there are workouts I actually enjoy (I do avoid cardio at all costs on vacation though 😜 ).
Seriously though! If I struggle with it, how can an 8 year old mind understand it?? Pray for us as we try to make it through 3rd grade, and I try to understand why I can't comprehend 3rd grade homework. 😂
Reminiscing about our morning a few Saturdays ago that was filled with flowers, brunch boards, and community. It was a beautiful experience and I can't wait to do it again! I already have another workshop scheduled with @moonshineandsuppertime and I'm pumped! - In a world where negative things are emphasized, be intentional about looking for the positives. If you can't find any, create your own! Even something as simple as a smile that you give a stranger can raise their serotonin levels, which is a natural mood booster!
5 POUNDS HEAVIER! I'm 5 pounds heavier in the picture on the right! - Throw the scales out! 🚮 Now! I used to be obsessed with the scales....and still tend to get hung up by the number on the scales from time to time. But when I look at my body, I'm reaching the body goals I've always had but never could accomplish. The reason I could never accomplish those goals is because I was OBSESSED with the scales! If my weight wasn't moving in the right direction, I would get discouraged and give up. What I didn't realize was that I was gaining muscle 💪 the whole time and couldn't see the changes in my body because I was focused too much on the number I saw every single morning...and sometimes midday...and evening. Yes I weighed myself 3 to 4 times a day. It wasn't healthy. 🤦 - So take my advice and stop getting hung up on that magical number you want to weigh. Here's how to break the habit: ⚖️Pay attention to how your clothes are fitting. - ⚖️Look for "non scale" victories. Better sleep, increased energy, less pain, increased endurance, more confidence, etc. - ⚖️Take before and after pictures. When you are discouraged about the number on the scales, take a progress pic and put them side by side. - ⚖️Fuel your body with foods that make you feel good (yes, including the good carbs ). You shouldn't feel moody, lethargic, or too tired to make it through a 30 minute workout. You should feel your absolute BEST when you're working out and eating right! - ⚖️Realize your WORTH is not defined by a number. You are an amazing, wonderful person, no matter what you weigh! Yes, it's important to take care of yourself so that you can live a happy, healthy, fulfilling life, but realize that you do not need to weigh a certain amount to be worthy...EVER! - I know how you're feeling. I know it's hard to break the habit. But it CAN be done! You got this! If you need help finding an exercise and/or nutrition plan to get started on, I'd love to share what's working for me and coach you through it! Next boot camp starts in 2 weeks...click the link in my bio for more info!
Yes, I said it! Motivation will leave you high and dry when you need it most! When the going gets tough and you are at your lowest, when you don't want to get out of your comfy bed to get your workout done, when you had a bad day and you want to eat a whole carton of ice cream... motivation isn't around! That's why you have to have DEDICATION! #motivation💪 #dedication #findyourwhy #longtermresults #youareworthit #yourhealthmatters #womensupportingotherwomen #empoweroneanother
One thing that I've learned over the past year is that there ARE women out there who support other women. Women who have the mentality of abundance instead of scarcity. Women who are genuinely happy for those around them who are succeeding. Women who will actually share thier knowledge and lift another woman up so that she can get to the same level of success that she has. - The circle of friends that I've been a part of for many years has always been this way, but I didn't know it existed beyond our circle (especially in the business world )... until I met this wonderful group of ladies! ❤️ - Don't sit at a table with women where you might be the topic of discussion when you leave to go to the bathroom. - Sit at a table with women who will carry you when you need to be carried. Who will listen without judging when you need to talk. Who will applaud you when you succeed and pick you back up when you fail. - If you aren't surrounded by women like this 👆, I'd love to introduce you to this amazing group of ladies!
One week after recommitting to better nutrition and cutting back on wine (still haven't cut it out completely 😉 ). I'm feeling much better about my progress! - 💦 I'm a lot less bloated! 🔋Less sluggish and have more energy during the day 👖Clothes are fitting better 🏋️I have more fuel for my workouts - You can't out train a bad diet... believe me, I've tried! 💃
I need your input! - Yes, my morning cup of coffee makes me THIS happy! Sometimes I think about it during my morning workout just to push myself to get through it (definitely on cardio days 😄 ). - I like my coffee STRONG with a touch of sweet cream. But it has to be the perfect ratio! - I also love some specialty coffee from time to time...we just don't have many coffee shops around us. #countrylife - BUT that's about to change. The grocery store that our pharmacy is inside of is about to get a STARBUCKS!! This is going to be bad news for my budget...and my waistline! - I don't venture out much when I do make it to a Starbucks (skinny caramel macchiato is my go to ), so I need you to fill me in on your favorite Starbucks drinks. I'm going to have lots of time to try them all out, and I'm pumped!!
We've all got struggles right? Some appear bigger than others. Some are overwhelming and almost paralyzing. Some are physical, others are mental. Some are time constraints, others are tied to self control. - I've dealt with a lot of them over the past year...both in myself and in others that I have coached. I've always been a problem solver, so I love trying to find solutions, especially when it helps someone get closer to their goals! - And now I want to know what YOU struggle with. It's my desire to create and post content for you that will help you overcome YOUR struggles. So...tell me below, something you struggle with, something you'd like to learn, or just something you'd like to see a post about!
And when they see how far you've gone, they'll be asking you to teach them how to get there too!
When life throws you curve balls, you dodge (or maybe get smacked in the face sometimes ) and keep going! - Just went live in my team page (was supposed to do that yesterday per my new business schedule I created for myself, but...LIFE ), so I got up early and got it done! - I was telling them how I used to be SO afraid of failing. I wouldn't even attempt something if I wasn't 100% sure I would succeed at it. But what do you learn from that?? Nothing! How much character will you build if you never experience failure? None! Will succeeding at everything make you any stronger?? Absolutely not! - This past year and 4 ish months has been a huge personal development project for me. Even if I failed at this business, I have grown tremendously as a person. It has made me better in all areas of my life. And it's because I've failed more than I have ever failed in my entire life. I'm no longer afraid of failing, because I see how much I learn and grow each time I fail! - I created a "support group" for those of us on my team pushing for goals. Because when you're stretching yourself and climbing up the mountain of success, it's inevitable that you'll fall, and sometimes you need a little help from others who have already experienced those failures to pick you back up...or maybe even carry you up the mountain a few miles! - My message to you today is, stop being afraid to fail. Stop holding yourself back from your full potential just because you aren't 100% sure you'll succeed. Imagine the amazing view at the top of the mountain that you're missing out on, just because you're afraid of the climb!
Spent the majority of the evening working on school work with my girl. What typically turns into frustrations and arguments between us, actually turned into a good bonding experience. I'm starting to think that a lot of our struggles with Kamryn are actually extensions of her lack of confidence in herself. Her personality has definitely been a puzzle to us most of her life, leaving us puzzled on how to best parent her. - She's definitely kept us on our toes, made us scratch our heads 🤔, left me in tears at times, and made us wonder if we have failed her. - But, she's our Kamryn. And it's our duty, and our duty alone to make sure grows into her full potential. This girl is going to do amazing things...she may leave a trail of destruction behind her 😂, but today I have hope that one day we'll solve the puzzle. 🧩
How can you tell your kids they are worthy to have whatever they want in life but you don't think YOU'RE worthy of 30 minutes to take care of your mind and body? - Remember, if it's good for YOU, it's good for THEM. They need you at your best. Your best is not: lacking energy, full of anxiety, feeling self conscious, trying to find happiness in food or social media. - I had/was doing all those things ☝️but still couldn't see the value in exercise until I had a big wake up call. After seeing what not taking care of my body was doing to me, and how it was affecting my ability to be the mom I wanted to be, I knew I had to change. I am now a much better version of myself, and in turn, a better mom and wife! - Life still throws me of course from time to time, especially on my nutrition 🤷♀️, but consistent exercise has been a game changer for me! - Just imagine the mom you'll be with more energy, a happier and less anxious outlook on life, and confidence that is soaring! If you don't think you deserve that (which by the way, you do ), think about how your kids deserve that!
Want my best tips on making your own pizza? Check out my stories! I also share the link for the pizza dough recipe I use. So good! **Disclaimer: it isn't healthy** 😂 - Our summer has been crazy and we kind of got away from our weekly Sunday night pizza night. And I've missed it! - It's so easy to get out of routine. Life gets in the way. We get out of the groove and before we know it, we haven't even sat down for dinner together in weeks! - Exact same thing used to happen with my workouts...because I let it. I let anything throw me off track. But when it became more important than looking good in a bathing suit, it's a whole lot harder to knock me off track. You must find a why that is bigger than your excuses! - If you need help getting started on your journey, I'm always here to help.
I did something new today and took a flower arrangement class and had an amazing brunch with my sister! - The two amazing ladies from @riversnroots and @moonshineandsuppertime coordinated this beautiful event to bring a community together around a table. - Being the shy, introverted person that I tend to be, it's hard sometimes to have conversation with unfamiliar people. But being in this beautiful atmosphere, around one single table, just enjoying a gorgeous morning with other women...I think we all were a little less guarded and a little more open. - Community is important. Women supporting other women is important. Lifting each other up instead of tearing each other down...it's something that needs to be done more! Today was a beautiful example of that.
I'm a little frustrated with myself this morning. I have been SOOO consistent with my workouts....more than I ever have in my whole life! And I'm proud of myself for that. But I've gained about 6 pounds over the summer...sure, some of it is muscle gain...but a lot of it is bad choices. - I've indulged a little too much, especially while traveling. I've drank a little too much wine...maybe didn't count ALL of the glasses I had when logging my containers. And since I'm being honest with y'all right now, I really haven't been consistent in logging my containers. - I know that nutrition is 80% of my results, and yet I haven't been taking my nutrition seriously. - So this is my accountability post. It's hard to admit to you all that I've gained weight of this journey. But I need some accountability at this point in my journey. Every single one of us need accountability from time to time! Now I'm ready to get serious...and get to work! 🙌
Just to be honest, I've been STRUGGLING since the kids started back to school. I had a good routine down during summer. I'd wake up, rock my workout, then spend an hour focusing on my business. But now that time has been replaced with shuffling the kids out the door in the morning, and evenings are spent checking backpacks, homework, and getting ready for the next day (I don't get home from work until 7:30 so it can be challenging to fit it all in 😫 ) - Anybody else struggling with finding their groove again? I don't know why this year has been harder for me than usual, but I know I'm ready to get out of this funk! - Can someone please find a way to create more time?? Jk! But really, are you still struggling to figure out your back to school routine?
Time to get back to the real world! We had an absolute blast on our trip and created so many great memories. Like I've said before, that time away with your spouse is so important. Having that alone time to reconnect helps us stay in synch with each other! - As much fun as we had, I'm happy to get back to my regular nutrition and de-bloat from all that wine and out to eat meals...don't get me wrong, I enjoyed ALL of it. I did my best to make healthier choices, but it still gets my digestive system out of whack to eat out that much. - Anybody else have stomach issues when they travel??
Married life can definitely get stressful at times. The busyness of life, the kids, exhausted from your job, stress over the responsibility of everything...these things often get in the way of remembering why it is you decided to enter into marriage with the person you committed to do life with. - That's why I'm a huge fan of taking trips away without the kids. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE family trips with the kids, but it's important to have time to be kids again with your spouse, and remember why it is you fell in love with them...and all the reasons you still do!
When I started pharmacy school, Michael and I had been married a year. We made the choice to live apart during the 4 years...it was rough at times, but we definitely made the best if it! Every weekend, either Michael would drive to Birmingham or I would drive back home to Tennessee. And any chance we got, we would go to Bahama Breeze to eat while he was in town! - So today, when we were arriving at our hotel, and I saw a Bahama Breeze was right across the street, I knew it was destiny for us to go there for dinner tonight! - It brought back so many good memories from our pharmacy school days. Our marriage has been through so many different phases, and we've always come out closer and stronger from each one. Cheers to 17 years...and so many more to come!
Sometimes life throws you curve balls! - This post should be a picture of a wine glass with a vineyard in the background! 😂 Instead of relax time today, I got ordered around by this sassy little thing with her pet cat. - I'm just glad she's feeling better and we're now officially entering relax mode for the next 3 days! - We love our kids dearly, but it sure is nice to get some time away to ourselves as a couple! 👩❤️👨
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results! 🤪 - If you continue to do what you've always done, you'll continue to get what you've always got! 👈 That was me, and I always stayed on the weight loss rollercoaster 🎢, because I always did the same thing when I wanted to lose weight. Wait until the last minute before a trip (because starting next Monday never happened ), crash diet to feel somewhat confident in a bathing suit 👙, gain it all back by mid week, add some to it by the end of the week, and come back 10 pounds heavier. Discouraged and frustrated over and over. - This is what I learned...long lasting weight loss takes time. No crash diet will ever get you long term results. You've got to find a way you can enjoy eating healthy if you're ever going to stick to it. Also, find a workout program that makes you WANT to workout! 💃 Yes, fun workouts exist and actually get you results...working out doesn't have to feel like punishment. 🤛 - Are you ready to finally get a different result? Ready to try something different? - I know what you're thinking..."yes Amanda, good for you but it won't work for me!" You're thinking that YOU will never stick to anything. I know you're feeling like YOU will never enjoy working out. You're inner mean girl is also telling you that you don't have the energy, the will power, the motivation, etc, etc. I know that because I was where you are. - Things CAN be different for you, and I would love to walk you through, step by step on how to make the change in your life! ✅ - If you're ready, I have a few promo codes that I would love to share with you to save you some $$! And because I know how much back to school costs add up, I'm also throwing in a $15 Walmart gift card and free insulated tote for the first 3 people who tell me they want in! If you don't feel comfortable commenting below, send me a private message and we'll chat to see if this could work for you. - YOU are capable, YOU are strong, and YOU are worth it!
This is definitely one of my favorite moves... especially today! - Our monthly cycles bring struggles and challenges to our entire life. Less energy, less patience, more anxiety, pain. - Let's just say, I really needed this workout today. More than anything, I needed to move my body and clear my mind. - Did I still have a blow up with my daughter? Ummm, yes. It can be a struggle to have patience with her any time of the month, but it was especially trying today. - I'm not perfect...I never will be. Accepting that can be hard sometimes. That doesn't keep me from trying to be better. - We apologized to each other and made up before she hopped out of the van. I apologized for yelling...she told me that I still don't tell as loud as her, but not to try it because it really makes your head hurt! 😂 At least in the stressful moments, we can still find something to laugh about! - It's important to be kind to yourself and allow yourself some grace, especially during those times of the month when you're body is "dealing with things," and you've still got to be an adult!
Bray asked, "can I do a pose that looks like I just conquered the world??" Yes, yes you can! - This is the same feeling I get every morning when I finish my workout! It's such a sense of accomplishment. I used to DREAD working out. Like dread it so bad I would hit the snooze until my phone finally gave up on me then I'd wake up in a panic because the kids needed to leave for school in 10 minutes! 😂 I was the best excuse maker...I was too tired, I didn't have anything to wear, I'm too busy, it's too cold, it's too hot, it's too early, it's too late...I mean, it had to be perfect conditions for me to workout! - But now, I just DO it! When you get in a good routine, you just do it. Having someone expecting you to show up helps a whole lot too! 😉
