I think I have a new favourite type of dog to photograph... . BASSETT HOUND PUPPIES 😍🥰 . 16 weeks old, and all ears & wrinkles...soooo adorable!!! . If you have the Hairypants Calendar you would have seen the gorgeous Archibald and Georgina as the faces of December. This little cutie pie is their new sister Gertrude. I'm totally in love 🧡🧡
If you've had a photoshoot with me, you'll know that a big part of what we do is figuring out what works for YOUR dog(s ) because every one one is totally different. . We realised early on that using Luna's beloved ball for action shots probably wasn't going to work as she was so joyous at the prospect of chasing it, that she'd bounce around in all directions rather than running in anything like a straight line that we could direct towards me and my camera. . After chatting a bit we figured out that she also loves chasing her Mum and Dad, so we set her up for the win... . Mum walked her down the path and then Dad ran directly towards and then past me lying on the ground with my camera. SUCCESS!
After a few reschedules, I finally got to meet the ever so handsome Ripper yesterday. . Ripper's Dad mentioned he'd love an image that showed off his awesome smile, and I can totally see why 😍 . Thanks for making the drive all the way from Warwick Chris. Your boys did so well... even after the excitement of seeing their first ever bush turkey!!
This stunning boy is Alister. I caught up with him and his Mum Holly yesterday to capture the amazing connection they share. . Holly fostered Alister's Mum when she was pregnant with him so these two have known each other from even before he was born. . In typical Maremma style, Alister has a mind of his own...way more interested in checking out his surroundings than any of my treats, toys or noises 🤣. . What he does love though... is his Mum! I have so many beautiful photos of these two that I struggled deciding what to share for his sneak peek 🧡 . . . Side note....How amazing is all this long green grass 💚??? So lovely to see everything come back to life after all those months without rain at the end of last year.
Could a dog be more photogenic whilst running? I love this shot, obsessed with her ball just like my dog 🐶😍
Tucker is at that age where he's not quite a puppy anymore but still has the gangly derpiness of one! . Case in point... a typical adult Kelpie (well technically Kelpie x JRT if you can believe it! That JRT didn't get a look in lol ) would be all seriously intense focus chasing a ball over an obstacle like this... . Tucker, on the other hand, still somehow manages to look like bit of a dork...a very happy, loveable dork 🤣😍
I'm not going to lie... when we arrived at Rasta's session yesterday I wasn't sure it was actually going to happen. . Clouds had just rolled in, with storms threatening in the west behind us... . Then 15 year old Rasta was lifted out of the car and just stood unmoving on the sand, seemingly totally disinterested in the whole scenario. He has a heart murmur so his energy levels wax and wane.... and this was definitely a waning moment! . But his Mum and I chatted, and since we'd driven all that way already (and rescheduled multiple times already due to weather issues ), we decided to carry him down to the beach and at least let him have a sniff around to see if he perked up. . Well it turns out that my ever present bag of roast chicken was like smelling salts to this little guy! One whiff and he was back to his normal self... trotting along the beach towards me for his "action" shots and posing wherever we popped him for his close ups. . Thanks for being such a great little model Rasta ❤️
Jessie chases ball...Bella chases Jessie...And repeat 🤣
What a difference a couple of hours make. . We started and finished Shadow & Mookie's shoot yesterday in exactly the same spot about 90mins apart. I love how these photographs show really how much of an impact the light at different times of day has on the images we capture! . These two were so much fun to work with... they absolutely love each other so pretty much the entire gallery of photos is of the two of them together ❤️ Thanks for a fun afternoon guys (and the singing...the singing was awesome! )
How adorable is Brinkley??!! I think I may have actually squealed out loud when I first saw him yesterday .... ❤️😍🥰 . With those enormous paws, waggly puppy butt, and lots of kisses for one very lucky photographer, he was such a delight!! . Brinkley is a 16 week old Labrador x Labradoodle, which I've decided should be called a Labradabradoodle from this day forward 🤣
Bertie's Mum mentioned she'd love to capture him in action with his big floppy Cavalier ears flying everywhere.... and I'm so very glad she did 🤣🤣
I first met Alice back in 2013 when we had a session with her Sister Emily and their family dogs Charlie & Muffy... and Michael in 2014 with his family and their dog Abby. . . I was so excited when Emily purchased a Gift Voucher for them to have a photo shoot with their gorgeous boy Bertie... . . I think Bertie was pretty happy about it too if this response on his pre-shoot questionnaire about "what do your parents plan to do with your photos?" is anything to go by... . . "Put them on the wall. At the moment there is a lovely picture of them with Abby. Which is good because it is a lovely picture but also weird because I am their dog." 🤣🤣🤣 . . Promise we'll get you up there soon Bertie!
ummm Koda... I think you've got a little something on your face.... and chest and.... nevermind... as you were 🤣🤣 . . (have I mentioned lately how much I love beach shoots?? )
Bear's family adopted the gorgeous Cami to help heal his broken heart after the loss of his best friend Keisha, so it was only fitting that she be involved in their photo shoot. I love that Michelle brought her along to join us ❤️ . . . . Shamroq - Siberian Husky and Alaskan Malamute Rescue of Qld Inc.
One of the things I love most about photography is how a single image can tell such a story. . Between the joy on Takita's face as she runs along the edge of the water, her ball in the foreground and Dad in the background...I feel like this image is telling the story of all her absolute favourite things... neatly wrapped up in a single photograph 😍
I wasn't planning on posting Indy's sneak peek until tomorrow as I thought I'd need a nap before this afternoon's session after an extremely early start this morning at her sunrise shoot 😁 . But when I saw this as I was uploading her images I just couldn't resist. . There is a version of this photo where Indy is looking straight at the camera.... but this one is my favourite. Why? Because I know that look of absolute love on her face is aimed directly at her Mum 😍
Some faces are just made for close ups and Phoebe's is definitely one of them!! . I just love how her sparkly golden eyes match the warm late afternoon sunshine so perfectly 😍😍 . After rescheduling a couple of weeks ago when we had the only rain we've seen in ages...we got the perfect spring day for her session yesterday!
"Please can I have some more of that delicious roast chicken???" . Baxter's had 15 years to work on the his very best "can't you see I'm starving down here" eyes... I think it's safe to say he's perfected the skill 🤣🤣
If you follow us on FB you’ll know that we’re creating a 2020 Fundraising Calendar... Up ‘til now each month has featured an image from one of my client sessions, but I couldn’t resist taking the chance to include my own furkids!!! So I give you Mr & Miss October 2020.... Henry & Lulu 😍😍
I caught up with Tiger Lily and Toby yesterday afternoon. . Technically it was Tiger Lily's shoot since she was one of the runner up prize winners from our Seniors competition, but I think her brother might have stolen the show a little bit... He had a ball showing off all his tricks and generally trying the steal the limelight whenever he could 🤣🤣
As we were walking between locations (well, the rest of us were walking, while Daisy enjoyed a ride in my wagon 😃 ), her Mum mentioned that she has an adorable smile. . I initially thought she meant one of those big mouth open grins that lots of dogs get, but then I looked down at her happily being pulled along in the wagon and saw exactly what Kara was talking about! Of course from that moment I knew we had to get a photo of it! . I think we both let out a simultaneous squeal of delight when Daisy gave us her very best smile a few minutes later 😃🧡
"Hey Daisy...how long do you think we're going to have to sit up here?" . "I dunno Dudley, but I like this WAY better than that thing they were calling "action shots" before" 🤣🤣
We started Takita's session in the park underneath the Story Bridge as her Dad had mentioned he'd love to have a city background in his images, but also told me that Takita loved the water...making this the perfect spot! . After making sure we captured her looking pretty (and dry ), we headed down to the river! Takita was having a blast chasing her ball along the bank, and then running into the water to cool off. . Pretty sure a fair amount of Brisbane river water and mud when home in the car with them 🤢 but I love that Matt didn't mind at all. He was just happy that his girl had a fun adventure!
Big shout-out to Archie's Mum Lia who agreed without hesitation when I messaged her yesterday to see if we could start his session 30 mins earlier than originally planned (making it 5.30am! ) this morning. . When I was at this spot last week it was obvious that with the sun rising so early at this time of year, we'd almost missed our window of being able to shoot here in the mornings... but with a super early start time today (and some skilled reflector holding by Lia to block the sun's glare ) we were able to still make Archie's session work! . How adorable is this little guy?? He was posing like a supermodel from the minute he arrived...not an easy task on the side of a busy road with lots of distractions. . I can't wait to go through the rest of his photos 😍 . Ps if you live in the area, I highly recommend checking this amazing building painted by @drapl ... I see something new in it every time I go! It really is spectacular. It’s near the corner of Albion & Hudson roads at Albion.
Maybe it's because I have the same thing, but there's something about families with totally mis-matched dogs that I just love. . Ruby & Daisy are polar opposites and best friends! 10 year old Ruby is quiet and a tentative around new people and things, while her big baby sister Daisy is full of beans and wants to part of everything!! . Their Mum said she loved photos with pink & purple flowers and green grass... so that's exactly what we set out to capture : )
Moose... giving me his very best "you made me get off the couch and leave the house for THIS?" look at his Funny Face Dogs book shoot yesterday 🤣🤣
I love when a single shot captures the different personalities of my "models". At their photoshoot yesterday, love bug Rusty, took every opportunity to shower kisses on whoever he was closest to... . While princess Pearl took a more aloof approach, posing like a supermodel, then waiting to be picked up and carried across the prickly ground to the next spot : ) Such a sweet pair of seniors 🧡
I fell totally in love with gorgeous Bella at her session yesterday... I mean how could you not?? Just look at that beautiful smiley grey face 😍🥰😍 . As soon as I saw that the Bougainvillea at our location was in full bloom I just knew we had to have some photographs of her surrounded in a sea of pink!!
Is there anything sweeter than the bond between a boy and his dog? Declan & Marley ❤️🧡
When the amazing @drapl paints a building just up the road from your house, it's totally normal that the first thing you want to do is photograph a dog in front of it, right? 🤣🤣 . I've been wanting to photograph Bee & her brother Buddy for the Funny Face Dogs fundraising book for ages, so when I saw this amazing mural I couldn't resist reaching out to their Mum (who lucky for me walks them past my house every day! ) to see if they could come play with me! . Bee's resting b*tch face is so good it even gives Lulu a run for her money 🤣...such a perfect addition to the Funny Face Dogs family!! . And don't forget if you have a Funny Face Dog who you'd like to have featured in the book all while raising much needed money for local animal rescue groups... check out all the info on the website!
10 year old Red is the sweetest, most gentle dog I've met in ages. I fell in love with him from the minute we met and could happily have just sat and cuddled him for hours. . Apparently he loves affection so much that sometimes he'll get so relaxed getting cuddled that he'll actually fall asleep sitting up 😍😍 . Even the way he gives kisses is soft and sweet! Such a beautiful boy 🧡
I first met Krystal and Jason a few years ago when we had a photoshoot with their gorgeous girl Ella. . We met again about a year later when they adopted one of my foster dogs Monkey. . It was so great to catch up with them again on Saturday, and see how happy Monkey is with his new family.
Tabitha mentioned in her pre-shoot questionnaire that she really wanted a great photo of Millie with her two younger sisters Zoe & Roxy. . She went on to say how much she loved the action shots, but figured that because these three girls would need to be on leash for the shoot, we'd probably have to go with a still portrait shot for their family photo. . I went into their session thinking we'd capture separate images of each of the girls in motion (using my 10m long lead to keep them safe ) and some beautiful portraits of them all together. . But as we were close to leaving I noticed how they all trotted perfectly side by side when they were being walked on leash and knew we'd be able to capture that action group shot after all! . All it took were a few attempts to get them all walking in straight line, and a little Photoshop magic to finish the job! (Swipe to see the original photo )

How do you say no to this face?? I'm sorry Lulu. I had to work. Promise we'll go to the park in the morning.
It must be the week for awesome trios! Shadow, Nala and Tilly rocked their shoot yesterday, with the help of their amazingly committed Mum Sarah, who has done a lot of work with the trainers at @pawsitive_connection to make sure she can keep her two big girls safe and happy. Between bad weather and paw injuries it took us a few months to finally get a date that worked for Sarah's session yesterday but it was totally worth the wait!
Some days you just can't wait to download the photos from a session to see if what you thought you captured really was as good as it looked on the back of the camera!! Today was one of those days..... first run of the day and Clancy pulls this out!! What a superstar 😍
Ok Primrose....this is that part of the photo shoot where you show us how much you LOVE playing with your toys!! Or not 😂 😂
Pippa & Louis' Mum won their session in the raffle at last year's @rspcamillionpawswalk at Dakabin. Their family took me to the most amazing off leash area in Caboolture yesterday for their shoot. I knew Amanda really loved the soft dreamy look of photos taken in the woods with pretty filtered light, so we headed to the trees at one edge of the park to see what we could find. . Pippa & Louis definitely turned it on for us...giving me their very best smiles and a few super cute head tilts. . Thanks for a fun afternoon guys! I'm a bit jealous of your local dog park : )
Thanks for braving the rain with me Nandi! And for bringing the beautiful Sophie along for a play. Gotta love friends with beautiful dogs who are happy to help you practice with your new gear even if it means getting a bit wet 😍😀 How stunning does Sophie look in her @thesoapymoose collar and lead??
"Why yes... I'm well aware that my eyes perfectly match the sky" . The ever so debonair Winston... this boy was born to be in front of the camera 🥰
It might be a grey drizzly morning here in Brisbane with another shoot postponed due to rain.... but luckily Koda is here to inject some sunshiney joy into your day!! . Not sure there are many things more joyful than a real-life teddy bear in action! . Koda's parents came for their viewing last night and chose this image as one of four in a beautiful Acrylic Wall Collection. I can't wait to see it printed 😍😍
