I'm heading off to Iceland today and looking forward to visiting this magical place again. It's such a beautiful part of the world. 😁
We've had a lot of spectacular sunrises in the Rockies lately! No better way to start the day then hunting for icy foregrounds as the sun rises over the mountains. 🤩 Also, I have a new website! Jump over and have a look and let me know what you think. You'll find my brand new print store there as well! ➡️ Link in my bio. Still a work in progress but looking forward to adding more content soon. 🤓
I'm very excited to team up with @cmh_heli this August to bring you a 3-night photography workshop combining helicopter flights, hiking and off-the-grid luxury at CMH Bugaboos Lodge, hidden away in the mountains of British Columbia, Canada. With limited spaces to ensure maximum hands-on learning, you'll be part of a small group of up to 10 photographers joining me as we explore multiple, stunning locations each day. Hosted by CMH Bugaboos Lodge as our basecamp, comfort in the backcountry won't be a question...like a sauna/hot tub at the end of a day of hiking and shooting kind of comfort! This workshop is about grand landscapes, colossal glacier views, pristine wilderness, wildflowers galore, off the grid luxury and of course, the coolest part.... heli accessed only! During this workshop you will learn how to take more impressive images, beyond the typical tourist snapshot and take home images you’ll be proud of. I will be covering topics such as composition, mastering your settings, long exposure, focus stacking, processing images, use of filters & much more! There will be an additional exciting night sky component, weather permitting. If you're looking to escape the crowds and experience something a little different this summer, this is going to be an adventure to remember! For more information, see link in bio or send me a message. 🚁 😎🌄
Ever seen and ice spider? It's the only kind of spider I can tolerate. 😆🕷 Such beautiful formation and very unique to see this one on the shores of such a popular photo location. Vermilion Lakes and Mount Rundle, Banff National Park.
A perfect way to start the day yesterday morning! Pristine ice and cotton candy skies made the frozen bubbles reflect all kinds of colours. This image, along with all my images is available for print. Shoot me a message for details.
Ice castle, ship's prow or ice dragon? It's hard to keep the imagination from running wild when exploring impressive ice caves. What do you see? 😉
As we head into a deep freeze over the next week here in the Rockies, with lows of -40°C, it's safe to say any open water remaining will be turned to ice. It's hard to be motivated to get outside during those freezing temperatures but they always produce beautiful, unique conditions. I'll be putting on all the layers I own and seeing what I can find! 🥶
2019 has been pretty amazing. New countries, new continents, new friends and so many adventures. It’s hard to think how 2020 is going to top it but with some exciting plans in the works, I think it’ll be even better. Stay tuned! ☺️ Wishing everyone a wonderful 2020! 🥳🤩
I’m incredibly excited to share this news... @emily .beaudoin and I have been keeping this under wraps for a while now. This idea was dreamt up during a multi day backcountry trip to the beautiful Berg Lake where we laughed, ate chocolate, marvelled at the thundering glaciers and slept under the stars. Somewhere along the hike we wondered how we could bring each of our passions together and so, our colab was born. @emily .beaudoin is an incredible artist and truly inspiring person. If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing her work make sure you head over to her account. This is the first piece of our collaboration and we’re looking forward seeing what else we can create together! ✨
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas from the Canadian Rockies. Spotted these guys in Banff this morning grabbing a snack before their big trip! 🎄🎅🏻🦌
The magic of Iceland. I wanted to see this place for so long and it certainly didn't disappoint. This place felt like a dream, though that could have been due to the huge lack of sleep... 😉😴
Somewhere in the Scottish highlands... I could do a whole photo series just on the trees of Scotland. They all look like they have some good stories to tell. 🌳😉
"The Standoff" A night of pure magic here in Iceland. The aurora danced above Hvítserkur, what Icelandic believe to be a Troll. Folklore says he was turned to stone by sunlight, but legend has it he comes back to life on nights like this. 😉
Storr, Scotland. One of the most fairytale-like places I've seen. My imagination was running wild here! Spot the two people, if you can. 😉
The winter version of the famous Moraine Lake under a starry sky. A perfect calm night with the ice bubbles and the Ten Peaks. Who's excited for ice season?! 🙋♀️
Goodbye Autumn. The first snow has arrived and it's starting to look more and more like winter every day. I love this time of year when the lakes haven't quite frozen yet and the fresh snow makes the colourful lakes pop even more! Taken during an incredible flight over the Rockies with @paulzizkaphoto and @adamgearing . Floe Lake, British Columbia.
I often get asked the best time of year to visit the Rockies. It's a hard one to answer because for me, each season has so much to offer. I do have a soft spot for Autumn. There's a magical week or so, where the first snow falls and the trees are still golden. For me, this cross over of seasons is truly something special. Nothing gets me more motivated to get outside than to see the golden landscape for the fleeting moment that it's here.
The storm has passed and the mountains are dressed in white again. As sad as I am to see the end of Summer there's something magic about seeing fresh snow on the peaks.
A little lone larch tree catches all the sun it can before winter moves in. Currently in the middle of the first snowstorm of the season here in the Rockies. I'm hoping it doesn't swallow up what's left of the autumn colours!
Walking on gold. High in the alpine above a beautiful Larch forest just might be my favourite place to be. 🌲
A moody day in the alpine as snow squalls move in over the golden larch filled valley. We're currently in the middle of the first blizzard of the season here in the Rockies! We'll see what's left of Autumn when it passes in a few days... ❄️🍁
There's something magic about autumn in the mountains. Nature really turns it up a notch this time of year. There's probably another week left of gold in the Rockies before winter moves in. 🍂
Fall magic at Assiniboine last week. Such a beautiful area to explore, especially this time of year as the tree start to turn golden. 🍂🍁 We had every kind of weather you can imagine, four seasons in one day, which made for amazing photography conditions as the light was constantly changing. This is the most well-known view of the area looking at Sunburst Peak, Mt Assiniboine hiding in the clouds on the left with Sunburst, Cerulean and Magog Lakes below. Bonus points if you can spot the person.
A beautiful evening on the shore of Sunburst Lake as the stars sparkled above Sunburst Peak and Mt Assiniboine. 🤩✨
