The news that @rafsimons —innovative menswear designer, alum of Jil Sander, Christian Dior, and Calvin Klein—would be joining @Prada as co-creative director with Miuccia Prada seems like "a masterstroke of innovative thinking," writes Vogue's @hamishbowles . "The move is also a vote of confidence in the power of the creative imagination at a time when the bottom line dominates much of an industry obsessed with exponential growth and number crunching." "The bigger I get, the more I’m like, Oh, my God, of course they had to do that," March cover star @billieeilish says of pop stars who came before her. "In my dark places I’ve worried that I was going to become the stereotype that everybody thinks every young artist becomes, because how can they not?” Though by breaking away from pop’s typical sights and sounds, she has broken into the mainstream by being herself—maybe that’s why it seems pop stardom is the thing that’s changing, not her. @gucci staged its fall 2020 show in the round, exposing the behind-the-scenes action of the hair and makeup teams and the model dressers at work as they prepared the 60 cast members in their looks. There were shades of Unzipped (the 1995 fashion documentary ) here, only in this instance the stage revolved, giving the audience full 360-degree views, and—the designer pointed out afterward—doing the same for the models and the backstage crew. “You were our show, and we were your show,” @alessandro_michele said in his typically elliptical manner.
